A favourite at the AAC Nationals!
Based on the 744 sanctioned runs on Friday, we have calculated the number of runs in each height/division and the jackpots available for each of the same. There will be a possible 81 spots in the Run Off. A total of $5,080 will be distributed!
On the chart below, “# of dogs” represents the number of dogs that will be eligible to run in the final from that height/division. Top placements will come from each of the two Friday Steeplechase events.
For example, Regular 16 inch has 10 eligible placements – the top 5 placers from the 2 runs will be awarded run off spots. IF a dog places twice in the top 5, they will knock out a competitor and only 9 dogs will run – better chance to win the pot!
If there are an odd number of eligible spots (see, for instance, Vet 10 inch has 3 placements for the run off) fastest time of the competing steeplechase placements will be selected. For example, the two first place dogs from Steeplechase 1 and 2 will fill two of the spots, and for the third spot, the times for second place from each steeplechase will be compared and the dog who is most under the set standard course time for their steeplechase course will be given the run off spot.
For the height divisions that only have 2 eligible spots, there is a possibility that a dog might win first in both the Friday Steeplechase – in keeping with the spirit of knocking out your competition when you win top spots for both events, you will be the only runner for that division! BONUS! HOWEVER, you must complete the run off course.
